I Have Had Pain On The Side Of My Left

default
Posted on Sun, 4 Aug 2019
Question: I have had pain on the side of my left breast since mid May. I also have pain below my left breast. I have pain in my left abdomen below my left breast, approximately even with my belly button. I have pain in my back on the left side of my spine about mid back. These pains come in varying combinations, but there is generally some pain all the time. It intensifies at night, and I have to get up and sleep in a chair every night. The pain is an ache that can at times be rated an 8 on a 1-10 scale. I have had a mammogram and a breast ultrasound and both were clear. My doctor wants to send me to a plastic surgeon for breast reduction. I convinced her to look into the problem further, so she has a chest/abdomen CT scan scheduled. I am worn out and frustrated!

Brief Answer:
Can be a musculoskeletal pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The pain on the left side of the chest and abdomen including back can be a muscle pain. This can be related to spondylottic changes in the spine or a muscle spasm due to bad posture. In addition to the pain killer that you are taking you can get some oral muscle relaxants prescribed by your physician and see if it helps. An MRI scan is the best investigation to diagnose any spondylottic change or a nerve root compression. Till then you can also do a hot compress to relax the stiff muscles in the area. Regular physiotherapy can also help.
