I Have Had Reoccurring UTIs About Every 3 Months Or
I recently (about a month ago) had another UTI, which I was treated for and am now symptom-free. However, since then I have been positive for leukocytes in my urine (using a home test strip )
My Dr. ordered an ultrasound (kidney and bladder) which he said came back normal. He has also run blood panels, everything also was normal, but my chloride was slightly elevated 109, however, my Dr said this is still considered normal.
I would like to make sure my Dr. is not missing early or mild symptoms of something, and if I should ask for any more or certain tests? I had someone tell me after a bad kidney infection it's usual to have some kidney pain. if this is all normal them that's fine, I just want to make sure nothing is being missed.
Nothing to be worried about .
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Presence of Leukocytes in urine after eradication of infection is common finding and suggests inflammation of bladder mucosa .Leukocytes are the dead WBC which are shade off for certain period of time in urine while fighting against the infection .This is normal phenomenon and nothing to be worried about .
As regards elevated chloride it is mostly due to dehydration and has no significance at all .
Ensure to drink more water .
Take urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily for 3-4 weeks and repeat your routine urine test in laboratory .You will find no leukocytes in urine .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
