I Have Had SevereRLS For Many Years And Take Pramipexole
Need re evaluation of disease condition &also medication
Detailed Answer:
Hi jbriggs 9554,
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
Drooling in day time is not said to be direct side effect of the drug you are taking forRLS(Pramipexole) nor likely symptom of the Parkinson's.
The likely possibilities I see here is it may follow weakness or spasms of jaw muscles(a known effect of the disease as well as side effect of drug). This would keep your outh open &lead to extra salivation .
OR drooling here could be secondary to dental irritation of jaw mucus membrane(by misfitting denture or mouth ulcer secondary to bowel irregularities &damage to lactobacilli normally present in oral cavity &produce vitamin B in body)
OR it could be involvement of brain nerves controlling the salivation
*To solve the confusion in my view you should-
- Get the degree of Parkinson's by comparing the physical symptoms &their aggassiveness.
-excluding other possible causes of the symptoms like Lewybodies, supranuclear palacy, periferal neuropathy by needful investigations. .
*This would help in assessing dosage/change of medication &addition of physiotherapy to management -to offer you relief.
* In this scenario I would advise you to consult your Neurophysician .
I hope that helps you. Any follow up query is welcome .
Thanks.
