Question: I have high bop usually running 170-160 over 85-80; today I hit 121/54 and feel very lightheaded and dizzy. Was workin in a very hot and humid area. I take two bp meds in the morning and one in the evening. Is this serious or do I need to just hydrate?

Brief Answer:
Nothing serious

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using Ask a Doctor.

Your decreased blood pressure compared to your usual blood pressure is most likely due to dehydration as you suspect. However, it is not too low and is nothing to seriously worry about. I would only recommend that you rehydrate and relax for awhile. In the meantime, I would hold on taking another blood pressure medication. You can check your blood pressure again after a few hours, and if it is above 140/90 (either number), you can go ahead and take your blood pressure medication.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions about any of that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
