Brief Answer:
It can detect blocks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
IVP (intravenous pyelogram) can detect blocks in your urinary tract from bladder to urethra.
We can check for blocks or other anomalies in your urinary tract.
Most often it he hydronephrosis caused by reflex of urine or stones, if there is significant residual urine in the bladder intermittent self catheterisation may be required.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks

Does that mean I’ll always have to do it or is it possible I’ll be able to stop ?

Brief Answer:
Mostly it is not required

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Mostly it wont be required.
When there is chronic urinary retention we can try for medical management using various drugs.
If there is no improvement with drugs then only intermittent catheterisation or self XXXXXXX required.
Thanks
