Question: I have intracranial hypertension. I have been doing a little research and discovered Venous sinus stenosis is sometimes responsible for the conditions occurence. Iam wondering if Venous sinus stenosis is serious, increases my risk for stroke, and how it is diagnosed. Ive had plain MRIs in the past. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Can be diagnosed by MRI venography...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there are several causes for intracranial hypertension. Venous sinus stenosis may be the one of the cause.

For further assessment I would suggest you to consult with neurosurgeon for detailed clinical examination. He may procure MRI venography, lumbar puncture as per evaluation.

In that case you may require surgical intervention (shunts or stenting) after neurosurgeon opinion. Along with that reduce weight if you are obese.

Hope I have answered your query.

Rather, i mean to ask, would a plain mri show anything of suspicion, for my neurologist to want an MRA or MRV?
