welll..... they all have risks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and her is my advice.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories are bad or worse. All inhibit the hormone that produces lubrication in blood vessels and are associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke. This is small but significant of an increased risk if you've had blockages. Naproxen is a bit lower risk than most. Tylenol does not do this. And, if you are on any other drug that affects blood, blood clotting, blood vessels, then it is worse and can have a serious risk of bleeding. Again, tylenol doesn't do this.
BUT what else doesn't do it is anything that isn't in the blood vessels of the heart! So, steroid injection into the joint is safe. Topical drugs on the outside that mainly only get into the knees are pretty safe. Aquatherapy is the only option that both helps the joints, AND lowers risk of heart disease.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
