further evaluation needed...
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query...
I can understand your concern...
Well, your symptoms could be related to nerve compression at the cervical spine level or even due to Carpal Tunnel syndrome...for diagnosis, it's recommended to get it checked up by your physician/Neurologist who'll examine the area, run a few investigations (namely: X-ray of the left arm, CBC, U&E, FBS, PPBS, Vit D3, Vit-B12 levels, Uric acid, ESR and a Nerve Conduction study)...Management can be done based on the findings...
Meanwhile, avoid any strenuous activities, weight bearing with the left hand for now.
For pain, you may take a mild Painkiller (eg. ACETAMINOPHEN 650mg i.e. Tylenol) up to thrice daily after some food...
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take Care
Kind Regards

stroke doesn't usually comes to only one hand or cause such kind of pain...
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
No, stroke or even-pre-stroke is unlikely as it generally shows in the face or surrounding area first. It doesn't cause such type of pain which comes and goes only on one hand.
However, if this is happening for a long time, diabetes should be ruled out. However, once again, Diabetes is unlikely to cause such symptoms only on one hand.
Nevertheless, I'd recommend getting checked up by the Neurologist as already explained earlier, along with getting those investigations done which will confirm the diagnosis...
Take Care
Kind Regards
