Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'.
Most likely this would be something benign that would pass within a few weeks, possibly from a virus, or post-nasal drip.
Do you have any other symptoms, such as a runny nose, cough, or fever?
How long have you noticed this?
Regards

No I don’t have any other symptoms. I only noticed it today but I’m not sure how long it has been there.
Brief Answer:
No concerns
Detailed Answer:
I wouldn't be worried about it then, it actually doesn't look too inflamed to me, maybe a little irritated. The slight enlargement of the tonsil may be from a past infection, but at this point I don't see any signs of active infection. It would be safe to watch it for now, and if it did start to become painful, or if the tonsil continued to get larger, I would see a doctor for it at that point, but I expect it will either stay the same or go away, in which case you wouldn't need to do anything for it.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
