Question: I have osteoarthritis of my entire spine (I was hit in the back by a galloping horse 30+ years ago and sprung my spine). I have controlled the effects for 10 years on 900mg gaberpentin per day and have also been taking zoplicone 3.75 mg for 2 years. I am now getting muscle spasms, hand or foot seizing etc. Would an increased dose of gaberpentin help/be advisable? I did stop driving 2 years ago as I felt unreliable.

Since your neurological symptoms have aggravated, it is best to get an MRI scan to look for nerve root compression.

Diazepam is usually preferred for Muscle spasm and not Gabapentin or Zopiclone. Gabapentin is good for treating pins and needless and radiating pain.

Thank you for your reply. I have managed to get an appointment to see my doctor on 13th January. Depending on what he says I think I'll try and ask for a referral to orthopaedics.
