Question: I have pain/tenderness in my right shoulder. It feels to be between my right pectoral and front deltoid. It hurts when I raise my right arm straight up, but feels ok in normal sitting position. I dont know if it's strained or how can I treat it. Any feedback and help will be appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Muscular pain is possible and treatment explained below

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern. The pain you describe is a typical muscular pain as it is worse on certain movements. You can use acetaminophen 500 mg and Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours after food to help with the pain and try to avoid activities that make it worse.

Sometimes muscular pains may last for a few weeks. To help heal quicker a visit with a physiotherapist may be helpful to relax the tender muscle and strengthen the muscles that are needed for certain movements.

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
