I Have Premature Ovarian Failure , I Was Diagnosed 10
We managed to have my son 3 years ago through clomod stimulation at a fertility clinic. Being older now, we are struggling at the same clinic. I do occasionally ovulate and do have follicles.
I read that vit E and selenium increased follicle count in POI, however I read today that both increase FSH. The endo who diagnosed me years ago recommended DHEA which I take. Now i have looked into ubiquinol, coq10, DHA and vitamin D all of which I take. Also acupuncture and Chinese herbs prescribed by a doctor. I also read that vitamin C increases FSH? Anyway I would like some advice and your knowledge on the most recent findings
It is important to understand the root cause of high FSH and LH.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your query and your attached report.
You have high FSH and LH levels and these results means that your ovaries do not respond to the pituitary orders and do not produce regularly an healthy ovum.
DHEAS 75 mg/day(3x1tablte/day) ,Co-Q10 suplement 200mg/day and a normal prenatal supplement with all the vit ,inositol and PUFA acids is nore than enoughs.
A healthy lifestyle,Fertilty yoga, meditation, qualitaty sleep ,stress management and even chinese herbs are also important elements in order to reactivate your ovaries to produce new /healthy folicules every month.
Anyway you should know that the chances of a successful pregnancy for women with consistently high FSH and LH levels are not good.
I sugesst to consider IVF with donor eggs as a possible alternative to immediately maximase your chances of a healthy pregnancy.
Hope this is helpful.
Wish you good luck.
I read that Insolitol can reduce testosterone and DHEA. Which is the opposite of what we want with my condition, isn't it?
Also please a study online about Vitamin E and Selenium improving follicle count and size of follicles in Premature Ovarian failure. However I also read that Vitamin E can reduce oestrogen and selenium can raise FSH levels. So I am now confused what to take.
Prenatal multivitamin

Hello
I appologise for the late reply.
Yes it is true that high doses of Inositole (4gr /day)can reduce androgen hormones (especially Testosterone ) but the normal dosis in prenatal vitamins are 100mg/day and this dosage do not decresse Testosteron and DHEA bur can be beneficial and improve hormonal responses, necessary for optimal follicle development.
About Vit E and Selenium, both are crucial micronutrients for fertility.
I recommend to chose a high quality Prenatal Multivit with 200µg Selenium and 4mg Vit E + Ac.Folic, CoQ10 and don't stress!
Prenatal can be helpful for fertility but my advice for you is :Stop wasting your time ' ;it is better to discuss with your fertility specialist about the best solution in your specific circumstances.
Hope this is helpful.
Wish you all the best
