I Have Psoriasis And For Some Years Had Regular Biologic
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have psoriasis and for some years had regular biologic fraizeron injections, followed by months of methotrexate. This was very successful
and the itchy patches gradually vanished. I stopped treatment in Feb when the COVID-19 virus started to spread as I was worried
about weakening my immune system with methotrexate, especially given my age (71), I am in a higher risk category and have underlying
health problems such as mild Parkinson's.
However, now the itchy patches have started to return - it has been 6 months since my last dosage which was 10 mg of methotrexate 1 x week.
Do you recommend I go to see my dermatologist for more treatment or the potential weakening of my immune system makes it better not to.

Brief Answer:
Consult your dermatologist and start with methotrexate though in low dose
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
According to me you should go and consult your dermatologist and start with lower doses of methotrexate.
Even in covid 19 situation depending on the severity of psoriasis methotrexate in doses of 10 mg per week or lower can be safely given to the patient without causing any adverse effects or weakening of the immune system.
