I Have Symptoms Of A High-pitched Sound When I Move

default
Posted on Thu, 1 Apr 2021
Question: I have symptoms of a high-pitched sound when I move my jaw up and down while eating, yawning and even when I turn my head sideways to the affected side as well as grinding the teeth which I have had for about 16 months. I also have fullness/pressure in the ear when the jaw is motionless. I went to see the doctor a few months ago who thought it was due to the jaw joint although there is no pain or soreness and recommended that I see a stomatologist but she didn't think it was because the Eustachian tube is blocked and see a phsiotherapist.

I had a nightguard fitted last XXXXXXX which I have been wearing each night and about 10 sessions of physiotherapy but I can still hear the sound from my ear when it is motionless and while I push the chin outwards.

I also had an x-ray performed on the jaw a few months ago and it said that the left mandibular condyle is positioned very slightly in front of the most pronounced point of the temporal condyle.

Brief Answer:
jaw sound can be caused by Temporomandibular joint disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Hope I can be of help for you today.

For jaw sound can be caused by Temporomandibular joint disorder. How long do you have it? For patients who have persistent functional limitations despite three to six months of nonsurgical management, and who have structural anatomic pathology or intra articular disorders, surgical intervention may be a treatment option. But you should be patience with self care by some head posture, jaw exercise, proper sleep hygiene, as well as avoidance of triggers (eg, oral behaviors such as nail biting, pen chewing) if these factors contribute to symptoms. Continue seeing physiotherapy

I hope that It can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or questions about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further. I hope you have good health.

Best regards,

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you again for your question.

We find that physical therapy directed at the underlying cause of the TMD (temporomandibular disorders) is often helpful. The efficacy of physical therapy interventions may vary depending upon the skill and experience of the physical therapy provider in treating TMD.

How long did you see a physiotherapist? Do you have teeth grinding during sleep? If you have this kind of symptom you also include the dentist to help by the use of occlusal splints fitted. If you do everything not help you better you should see an oral and maxillofacial specialist doctor.

Wish you and your good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
