Question: I have synovitis in the CMC and 1st MCP of my thumb. I have had a cortisone shot in each and they last about a week. 4 doctors have said I am out of options. So I am supposed to live with pain that is 300/10? I have a custom brace and have tried every cream out there and CBD.

Hi there

If there is no relief with injections, the next best option is joint replacement.

Next to consult with hand surgeons proficient in hand joint replacement.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

I was told no surgery since just inflammation and no signs or arthritis on xray or mri.

There is recent evidence that Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has better effect on such conditions than corridor. Do discuss with your doctor about PRP infection.

Apologies, for the typo. It's not corridor. I meant to say 'for such conditions.'

PRP can be extracted from a sample of your own blood after spinning it in the laboratory. It yields powerful growth factors that help to regenerate degraded cartilage and offer relief in early arthritis.

I believe that would not be the case. I suggest you get a second opinion or Rheumatologist opinion as well.
