Question: I have this weird feeling in my lungs about once or twice per day where it feels like I cannot breathe and there is a shot of heat/adrenaline sometimes that accompanies it which will sometimes cause sweating. The feeling is quite jarring and goes away quickly. It sometimes happens at rest and other times during activity. It feels almost like gas bubbles or air coming up out of my throat or something weird and it doesn't feel right at all. I started getting it after a month full of medical problems including pulmonary embolisms and kidney injury. I have GERD, anxiety and asthma. Please help!!!

Brief Answer:
Asthma exacerbation possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think the episodes of difficulty breathing, heat on face and sweating may be signs of worsening of asthma symptoms. It can't be a real asthma attach but can be sign of worsening of asthma.
I believe you can talk to your pneumologyst, to do a spirometry, and revision of the medications you are currently taking.
I think you can use your inhaler at the time when you feel this attacks. Possibly you may need to increase the dosage of medications.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you! These attacks only last about 1 to 2 seconds and at first I thought they were PVCs wherein blood was transiently backing up into the lungs. could that be possible?

Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I don't think has anything to do with blood clotting in lungs.
I think this may be related to asthma exacerbation.
Please do a spirometry and visit your pneumologyst.

ok, I will. Other doctors have suggested anxiety and gas as culprits. I will check with a pulmonologist but could gas be connected to the asthma exacerbation? Upper gas has been terrible lately.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
Anxiety can be a cause but you should first get examined by a pneumologyst to check lungs function in order to eleminate the organ's disorders. The gas may be coming from gastrointestinal tract so Gerd( gastroesophageal reflux) or gastritis may also produce gass. Sometimes during GERD the stomach content goes back to esophagus or even to mouth and sometimes it may even go to lungs. This can cause cough.

Brief Answer:
You should get further examined.

Yet we can't say for sure what is the cause of your symptoms without being fully examined.
You should do a spirometry and a total blood count and formula. Please talk to your pneumologyst.
