I Have Tingling Down My Left Arm That Seems To
Question: I have tingling down my left arm that seems to be getting worse. I thought it originated in my left thumb, but now it has started to interfere with my sleep discomfort. I try to sleep on might right side (arm) and it pulls from shoulder, and then on my left side it (arm) becomes painful at the shoulder. I think my left thumb has some , now noticeable, arthritis......I am 80 yrs. old. Do I need to see an orthopedic physician, or what?
Brief Answer:
Please see your PMD!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You really don't need to see an Orthopedist for this. Your primary care physician would be a good start. The description makes it more of a nerve related pain.
I'd let the doctors examine and consider treatment options. Most often in my practice, gabapentin and lyrica are my preferred options.
For now, continue identifying what positions relief the pain and also Aspercreme as needed until you are able to see your doctor. There is no emergency at this time.
I hope these guides and helps.
I wish you well.
Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
Keep me updated, as well!
Kind regards
