I Have Trouble Swallowing. My Adam S Apple Goes Up

default
Posted on Sun, 21 Jul 2019
Question: I have trouble swallowing. My Adam's apple goes up and down but the pill and sometimes food just sticks there in my throat. One of my siblings had to turn her head sideways to swallow but that doesn't help me. When I do swallow I don't get that sensation of the food/pill going down, just a slight feeling of swallowing.

Brief Answer:
Achalasia cardiac very likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for asking query on HealthcareMagic.
Have gone through your query in detail.
Very likely you are suffering from a condition called Achalasia cardiac. It is a rare disorder making it difficult for food and liquid to pass into the stomach.Achalasia results from damage to nerves in the food tube (oesophagus), preventing the oesophagus from squeezing food into the stomach. It may be caused by an abnormal immune system response.
Two tests that need to be done are
Endoscopy
Mannometry.
Follow up with reports of these tests.
Hope I was helpful.
Thanks.
