Question: I haven't had a bowel movement in a week. Have tried enemas and laxitives and nothing is working. If anything comes out it is very dark, and in little clumps. I'm diabetic and I have been starving myself because of this. Went to Emergency Room. They ran tests hat were normal and took X-Rays and told me I was severly pluged up. They told me to take magnesium Citrate last night and I did. It didn't work. They said if it didn't work to see my Doctor. Doc says he cant to anything if they can't and to go back to them. Help. I'm so shacky from not eating

Brief Answer:
Start eating and drinking if you don't have a bowel movement for 2-3hour

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I can recommend you to drink lots of water and fluids especially fruit juices.
Start eating something like a soup or fruits and vegetables in order that you can stimulate the intestines to move.
Magnesium citrate is going to give it's effects soon, I believe it.
You can wait for 2 to 3 hours and if it still doesn't work you should go to the ER.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
