I Hope You Would Be Able To Answer A Question
Started Monday -going on day 7
Started with runny nose and sore/hoarse throat, then fever
Had a fever for 4 days on and off, got up to 102
No fever now but rash all over the body, little red bumps. Also red blisters on his bum
Started wheezing yesterday (day 6) and developed white patches on the tongue
Extremely irritable, no appetite whatsoever - won't drink much at all either . Pretty much won't eat or drink much at all. Took him to ER a couple of days ago. Told it was viral (couldn't name what type). Sent him home.
17 1/2 months old
Two teeth are coming in - looks like canines, very swollen and painful
Had coxsackie a month ago which likely weakened immune system
Wheezing with white patches on tongue needs to looked at again.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concern for your grandson.
You are justified in worrying as the problem is getting worse.
Inability to eat is indicative of pain in the throat because of likely fungal infection.
White patches over the tongue also indicate fungal infection.
Viral infection usually suppress immunity so fungal and bacterial infections can easily happen after viral infections.
I think that is what is going on with your grandson.
I request you to take him to the ER again, most likely he will need admission and IV antibiotics and antifungal treatment.
I hope this will help.
Best wishes for your grandson.
