I Just Got Back From A Walk In Clinic And
Question: I just got back from a walk in clinic and although I’m mostly satisfied with their diagnose I wanted a reassuring second opinion. I’ve had a lot of post nasal drip along with a cobblestone throat, a sensation of a lump at times in the back of my throat, fluid in ears and an odd sensation in my tongue and now my tongue has a few red areas and is slightly swollen in those areas. I just want to make sure this isn’t an allergic reaction. The Dr. I saw felt confident it wasn’t but I can’t get over how my tongue feels. He said I had the begins of an infection (not sure what type) and prescribed me a z pack and was told to eat soft foods until my tongue felt less aggravated. I have photos but I’m not sure how to upload yet.

Hii. It looks like you are having allergic pharyngitis as posterior pharyngeal wall is congested. The tonsullar pillar are also congested. As you are telling you are having post nasal drip then it may be associated with some allergic rhinitis which is inflammation of the nose. The tongue looks slightly swollen with congested areas. You can start antiallergic tablet along with fluticasone nasal spray and solspre. It will decrease your allergic response and clear the allergic mucin from your nose. At the same time start taking pantoprazole tablet which will reduce the acid reflux from the stomach and helps to reduce the congestion. Drink more water. Avoid spicy food, beverage, cold drinks, smoking, alcohol.

I’ve always seemed to have a sore red throat... I’d say it’s pretty chronic. The tongue thing started about a month ago... at first just a tingling sensation a little above the tip but only occasionally and no apparent changes. Then about three weeks ago the post nasal drip & odd tongue sensation became everyday and sparked horrible anxiety. Afraid that the sensations I was feeling was an allergic reaction to food. I then told my doctor then about my anxiety but forgot to mention my red sore throat. She put me on 10 mg of Lexapro. Then two days ago I noticed a few red dots/ irritations in the tip and side of my tongue and this morning they seemed more red (especially on the left side with just the slightest swelling).I haven’t changed my diet or tried anything new. In regard to the photos, does this look like any food or medicine allergy? It hasn’t gotten worse from this morning... just the same. I leave out of town Friday & really want to ease my mind. Thank you for your help
