I Just Got My GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST , 3 SPECIMENS,
Based on this result, I may have prediabetes. But I would like a second opinion before I see a doctor.
Here's my result:
GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST, 3 SPECIMENS, (75G)
FASTING SPECIMEN 102 H Reference Range: 65-99 mg/dL
1 HOUR SPECIMEN 124 mg/dL
2 HOUR SPECIMEN 86 Reference Range: <140 mg/dL
HEMOGLOBIN A1c
HEMOGLOBIN A1c 6.0 H Reference Range: <5.7 % - 6.4% of total Hgb
Thanks for your advice.
Impaired Fasting glucose, Prediabetes
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your results indicate that there is is impaired fasting glucose and elevated HB a1c. together this is called prediabetes.
Please note that your 2 hour glucose tolerance test value is lower than the fasting glucose. even though this is the normal range this would actually mean that your insulin levels would have been very high after consuming glucose. This is very typical in many people with high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in the future.
Overall, the results indicate prediabetes status.
What is your height, weight and ethnicity?.
Any family history of diabetes ?
Have you checked lipid profile as well ?
Kind regards
