Question: I just got my report from the eye doctor concerned about my eyes.. will my eyes continue to deteriorate.. do most people who are have this degree of nearsightedness have these problems? What can I do to save my eyesight? My r x is -10 in od and -7.00 in os
Brief Answer:
Need follow up
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
There are small problems which need to be followed up to assess if they remain stationary or deteriorate. If they deteriorate, then active intervention may be needed.
You have PVD which is not much of issue. There is a patch of lattice degeneration. This if deteriorates, may need a small laser or cryo dependencies upon it's location.
Dry ARMD is a issue and it's progress is to be assessed.
All these are to be followed up at 3 to 6 monthly interval. My concern will be ARMD.This is to be followed up and continue with doctor's advice.Any further query in this regard please do get back to me.

How common is this and with my severe nearsideness..does it usually progress or stay the same?? Anything I can do to stop the progress? Thanks so much!!! Do you see it in 60 year olds?
Brief Answer:
Follow up needed.
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
PVD is very common and mostly needs reassurance from us and usually no treatment is needed.
Lattice is to be looked for in such high near sightedness. This is where follow up and laser at an appropriate time prevents any further damage.
Early ARMD is serious matter and is related to age rather than to high near sightedness. For this we suggest multi vitamins with antioxidants regularly slow the progress. That was the reason I suggested to follow the treating doctor's advice.
