Question: I know that you can have fatigue, cramps, and bloating in the days leading up to the start of your period, but is it also common to be nauseous and be using the bathroom more than normal? I’ve noticed since I’ve had kids that those tend to be some of my symptoms in the days leading up to my periods, especially the day before it starts, and was just wondering if that was normal?

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are apparently normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

Due to the hormonal changes and water retention before the periods, it is normal to have such symptoms like nausea and using the bathroom more than normal. There can be a mild stomach upset also due to the uterine cramps.

These are usually self-limiting symptoms and subside after the periods flow decreases. There is no need to worry.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow-up queries that you have.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.

Can it come on suddenly? If my calculations are correct, my period should start tomorrow, and I’ve been irritable and had trouble sleeping the past couple of days; but the nausea and stomach cramps didn’t start until today... is it possible for those symptoms to start up suddenly and literally just the day before my period starts?

Brief Answer:
Symptoms can be sudden or variable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The symptoms can be sudden or intermittent and with variable intensity. You also need to have a light and easy to digest food and avoid having acidity and indigestion so that the symptoms are not aggravated.
Hope my answer is helpful.
Regards.
