Brief Answer:
You should get a detailed allergy testing done
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on 'Ask A Doctor' forum.
I can understand your concern.
Yes this can be an allergic cough
And to identify the causative allergens, you must get done detailed allergy testing, chest x-ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
If it is an allergic cough, you will need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (budesonide or fluticasone).
Please let me know:
1. Do you have breathing difficulty?
2. Have you ever undergone allergy testing?
Please let me know the answers to the above-asked questions so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks

Thanks doctor. 1. No. I don't have any breathing problems. 2. No, i didn't do any allergy test. what are those bronchodilators and corticosteroids? shall I continue the syrup and tablet? do I need to change anything in my diet?
Brief Answer:
Allergy testing is done by laboratory
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Ask a doctor forum.
Sorry for late reply as I was busy.
Allergy Testing is done by laboratory.
And you need to notice by your self from which food items you are developing cough.
Observe and then stop them.
And yes continue your treatment.
Inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone) are Inhalers used for asthma.
