I have symptoms of a high-pitched sound when I move my jaw up and down while eating, yawning and even when I turn my head sideways to the affected side as well as grinding the teeth. I also have fullness/pressure in the ear when the jaw is motionless. I have now had these symptoms for more than 9 months. I went to see the doctor a few months ago who thought it was due to the jaw joint although there is no pain or soreness and recommended that I see a stomatologist but she didn't think it was because the Eustachian tube is blocked.
I also had an x-ray performed on the jaw a few months ago and it said that the left mandibular condyle is positioned very slightly in front of the most pronounced point of the temporal condyle.
I went to see the stomatologist a couple of months ago who said that I have costen syndrome. He said the two sides of the mouth were uneven when I bite and therefore he chipped at three teeth on the right-hand side to balance it since the sounds were coming from the left ear. He fitted me with a night guard which I have been wearing at night and at certain times during the day for more than 2 months.
Will the symptoms of the high-pitched sound when I move the jaw up and down and the fullness/pressure in the ear eventually disappear?

I have read your query and understand your concern. As far as symptoms like high pitched sound when you move the jaw up and down and condyle slightly positioned front these can be due to Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) . TMD is jaw joint related disorder . Treatment of TMD is Self-care
Relaxation techniques and Stress management, Physical Therapy , Splint, nightuard.
I will suggest you few measures for these symptoms.
- Take soft diet. Avoid eating hard food.
- Do hot formentation .
- Restrict your mouth opening. Avoid excessive mouth opening.
- Apply ointment like diclofenac gel. Gently massage using gel.
Do these measures you will get relief.
Hope this will help you.

Thank you for your prompt reply. However, I do not feel any pain around the jaw joint and still hear a high-pitched sound while I turn my head sideways and fullness in the ear when the jaw is still. Is it all connected to the temporomandibular joint dysfunction? Does it also take many months of wearing the night guard and physical therapy before the sound clears?
Brief Answer:
Don't be worried so much. Follow these measures

I went to see the stomatologist earlier today who said that the very small bone in my ear had worn away and was causing the high-pitched sound when I move my jaw up and down. Will it heal over time with the help of the night guard and physiotherapy? Thanks.
