Brief Answer:
X-ray report seems to be consistent with pneumonia

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for trusting us with your health-related questions.

I can understand your concern.

The x-ray report shows cavities and infiltrates in the upper lobe of the right lung, which means a dense area of the lung due to the accumulation of either pus, blood or protein and are consistent with pneumonia.

The report also shows the loss of volume in the right upper lobe, which may suggest a collection of fluid.

Sometimes the lung picture does not correspond to the activity of the disease, meaning that there may be a worsening of cavities and infiltrates, despite the patient feeling clinically better and this is normal.

It is important to compare this report to the previous X-ray in order to see the change in pattern and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
Sputum culture and antibiotic sensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

It is possible that pneumonia, in this case, is caused by an antibiotic-resistant strain. The next step is a sputum culture and antibiotic sensitivity tests. A pleural fluid culture and possibly a bronchoscopy may be a necessary next step, depending on the findings.

A CT scan may be a possible next diagnostic step if all treatment fails.

Yes, lung abscess and necrotizing pneumonia can be potential consequences of untreated/mistreated pneumonia.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Thank you very much. The problem is that the patient has been taken some antibiotics for 2 weeks, however, the sweats at night continue and his condition seems not improving really. So, I am wondering if there is a potential for mistreatment? Is there a potential for lung abscess or necrotizing pneumonia? Should CT scan be considered? Thank you
