I Noticed A Swollen Area Right Behind My Collar Bone

default
Posted on Sat, 29 Jun 2019
Question: I noticed a swollen area right behind my collar bone about a month ago. It is painless, soft and non movable..

A quick history on myself is Ice XXXXXXX diagnosed with fibromyalgia 10+ years ago. So I'm always feeling achey, lethargic and with muscle and joint pain. I recently seen a rheumatologist before noticing the swelling and she did bloodwork to rule out RA and lupus. All of my BW for that was within normal range.

I get the shingles rash at my tailbone every 3-6 months. I have horrible pain that seems to set in my spine and when it stops in one area it moves down to another area then into my left hip. I sleep terribly do to pain and although I explain these things to my drs they just keep telling to come back in 3 months. And continue my medications. Sometimes the pain is so severe between my head and spine I would swear I have meningitis. Although I feel feverish, I rarely run a fever.

Now I have this new swollen area and I have no idea what to make of it.

Brief Answer:
Can be swollen lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The painless soft swelling behind the collar bone can be a lymph node swelling. This can happen due to fibromyalgia or due to an infection in the local area.
Other soft tissue swellings like lipoma or fibroma are less likely. However it is best to get it examined by your physician and get an FNAC done to find the exact cause.
I hope this answers your query.
