I Noticed Blood Red In Stools 2 Weeks Ago And Had Sigmoidoscopy What Are The Likely Findings For Biopsy ?

Really stressed and worried . 52 age male no other symptoms , normally good stools once a day no diorea or constipation. Doctor found nothing on Digital rectal exam. 3 polyps found in sigmoid cessile 5mm distance 28 cm and to prdunculated at 20 and 30 cm up, sizes 10mm and 15mm. Awaiting biopsy results and full colonoscopy in two weeks.
I understand they will do a polpectomy but what are the likely findings for biopsy at these sizes. Found internal hemoriods and mild diverticula.
They will obviously check the other side of colon but what do you think about these polyps, likely benign and if not still ok to remove?
Descending colon was normal and splenic flexure normal. Occasional spots or red blood agin tonight with harder stool. Scraping on polyp as passing ?
Let’s wait for the biopsy report
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Polyps are quite common in the large bowel (colon) and can cause bleeding per rectum. Most of the polyps are benign(non-cancerous) and doesn’t cause much harm.
We can not confirm whether they are benign or not without the biopsy. Size is not a criterion to assess the malignancy potential.
If you don’t have symptoms like weight loss and loss of appetite, most probably they are benign.
Although, if they come out to be benign it is better to remove them to avoid symptoms like bleeding and to avoid malignant transformation in the future.
Mild bleeding is common after sigmoidoscopy and it will settle in a few days.
Let us wait for the biopsy report to decide regarding the further course of management.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks

I have read much about polyps on the internet anyway so looking for a bit more info.
I can confirm I don’t have weight loss or appetite issues except this week due to the worry and stress.
Better to remove even it is benign
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
It has to be removed even it is benign.
Low ESR normal ferritin are definitely good signs and indirectly says it is not malignant.
Let’s wait for biopsy report and wishing you good health.
Thanks
