I Noticed Something That I Can Only Describe As A Type Of Purr Coming From The Left Side Of My Chest
Question: Hello. Of course this would happen on a holiday weekend but yesterday, on Friday, I noticed something that I can only describe as a type of purr coming from the left side of my chest when I breathe in. I can feel it more than hear it. It feels as if I could clear it with a forced cough but there isn't any phlegm. I have slight congestion and nasal drip in general due to chronic nasal/allergy issues but this is entirely new. I don't have a fever, I don't have any issues breathing, no pain, no chest pain, no cold/flu symptoms. Of course, there are no appointments to see a doctor till Tuesday. Anyone around to help me this weekend?" Thank you

I read carefully your description and I understand your concern.
From your description, I see nothing to worry about. Your general condition seems good and also all the symptoms that would indicate a serious bacterial infection are negative.
Maybe it is the start of a common cold. If the feeling gets better with cough it means that it is something in the airways and even if you do not get out phlegm means that is it in a very small amount.
Of course, this is my reasoning with the information that you gave me. You have to see how it develops in the coming days.
If you start having fever, shortness of breath, or chest pain, then see a local doctor on Tuesday to check your lungs and prescribe antibiotics more probably.
If you have shortness of breath constant and then main when you start moving then you should go to the ER to consider doing a chest X-ray and rule out possible pneumothorax. This means the air in your lungs outside of the airways. This is something not very common so I do not expect this to be, but just in case.
