I Noticed That My Platelet Count Is Always Low Normal In Recent Years. Is This Concerning?

Question: I was looking through my lab reports from my last few annuals and I noticed that my platelet count is always low normal in recent years. Is this concerning? Below are my levels over time:
2012 - 225
2015 - 179
2016 - 218
2017 - 143 (January) and 160 (October)
2019 - Was told that a count couldn't be given because of clumping? Smear said "normal"
2021 - 140
2012 - 225
2015 - 179
2016 - 218

Brief Answer:
Yes it's most likely normal
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
The platelets are within normal limits and smear says adequate. So there's nothing to worry. Sometimes it's because of clumping or large platelets, in that case smear shows normal count. Sometimes it may be actually low normal which holds over time, here also there's no real concern.
So, overall, your reports are quite ok.
