Question: I recently went to the hospital for alcohol withdrawal and was given librium. Went back again and went through a few days of detox and was treated for my anxiety as well. Was given gabapentin and zoloft. Only on gabapentin at the clinic but didn't finish the librium before my relapse. Last gabapentin was 4 hours ago and no zoloft yet. Freaked out thinking my withdrawal from alcohol wasn't over with bad symptoms that could be from either anxiety or withdrawal. Didn't want to overdo the gabapentin so I took a librium. Vomited it up purposely after about 10 to 20 minutes. Should I continue with gabapentin and zoloft as scheduled? Really don't want to be on anything but this withdrawal was hard and I fear i shouldn't have gotten anxiety meds before fully detoxing but anxiety is a severe problem for me and I'm already on gabapentin. It has been about a week since I drank. Tho the gabapentin eased some symptoms I'm scared of what I've done. Would be taking gabapentin in 1.5 hours and zoloft in 3.5     don't know if I can afford another hospital visit. Want to break free but it has been hard. Any thoughts or advice? Thank you

Brief Answer:
You can continue gabapentin and zoloft.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query in detail and can certainly understand your concern towards your withdrawal symptoms.

I can advise that you can continue as there is no serious interactions with Librium.

You can taper librium by one forth of the dose mostly in 3-4 days.
It is advisable to stop afternoon dose first, then morning dose and then the night one.

You have mentioned that you still have some withdrawal symptoms. So please let me know what all symptoms you have still, so that I can advise.

Hope this information would help you.
Thank you.
