I Routinely Take 30 Mg Of Amitriptyline And 900 Mg

Question: I routinely take 30 mg of amitriptyline and 900 mg of gabapentin before bedtime for sleep. I'm prone to occasional bouts of severe anxiety about my health, always in response to symptoms that could be serious but for which I have no definitive diagnosis yet. For this I take 5 mg of diazepam, usually once a day for a day or two, just in order to enable me to get some breathing space and snap myself out of my anxiety. I'm getting ready to try to get some sleep, and I need to know whether combining the amitriptyline, gabapentin, and diazepam tonight would be dangerous if I find that I'm too anxious to go without the latter. I am, by the way, under medical supervision for these drugs, and am due to see my PCP tomorrow about the condition I'm anxious about.
Brief Answer:
No significant drug interaction
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There is no known significant drug interaction between amitriptyline, gabapentin, and diazepam and can be taken together. Only issue ca be that there can be increased drowsiness when amitriptyline and diazepam are taken together. So take a lower dose of diazepam around 2 mg at bedtime.
Gabapentin also seems a bit high dose. Its usual dose is 300 mg tds.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
