I Saw My Pain Specialist Last Monday And He Gave

This is not serious.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.
I have noted your clinical details. I would like to reassure you that this is not serious. This occurs due to mild pinching of nerve in the lower back, which can occur due to lumbar canal stenosis. The tingling can get aggravated at times with epidural injection, which you had.
It would settle down on own. If symptoms persist, you could take pregabalin capsules.
I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD (Internal Medicine), DM (Neurology) XXXXXXX Consultant Neurologist

Could you please tell me what is a reasonable length of time for it to settle down on its own? Are you talking about weeks, months or years. Some mornings it is almost unbearable. Ice packs alternated with heating pad seems to help but it may take at least a couple of hours. I think these epidurals are going to be a regular procedure. The other follow up question is how successful is surgery with lumbar stenosis and can it be done with endoscopic surgery or some surgery that is not too invasive?
Symptoms resolve over days to a few weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
The symptoms that arise due to the epidural injection procedure improve quite fast, most often within a few days. In some cases, a few weeks.
If symptoms persist beyond that, it is more likely to be due to nerve compression caused by lumbar canal stenosis. It would be better to go for surgery for long-lasting relief from pain and other uncomfortable symptoms.
If the lumbar stenosis is at a single level (such as L4-L5 or L5-S1 only), then, endoscopic surgery may be an option. Otherwise, open surgery is preferred. In both cases, healing is good and the surgery as such as safe. However, in endoscopic surgery, as expected, healing is faster.
