Brief Answer:
Symptoms can be related to the TMJ problem only.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for writing to us.

Well, as you already have a history of TMJ/TMD, the symptoms of having ache in the joint by the ear and clicking sound can be related to the flaring up of you TMJ problem.

However you need to get an x ray and a clinical examination done for confirmation.

For now you should avoid eating very hard foods.
Avoid opening the mouth too wide and avoid forceful opening the mouth too wide.
You can massage the sides of face with fingertips in round gentle motions.
Avoid clenching your teeth.
Avoid stress.
Doing warm compress can also help.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
