Question: I take 10 mg of mirtazpine, 10 mg of clonazapan and started Fentanyl 3 weeks ago. I am having terrible parathesia and RLS and cannot sleep. What medicines are causing this? I have Crohn's
I've taken the mirtazpine and clonazapan for years; the Fentanyl only 3 weeks after 1 year of BuTrans which quit working.

Brief Answer:
Mirtazapine is known to cause RLS

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

When did the symptoms start? Did the symptoms start after starting Fentanyl?

Mirtazapine is the drug that is known to cause restless leg syndrome, paresthesia and resultant insomnia. You are taking Mirtazapie in low dose but it can still cause it when taken for prolonged periods. Fentanyl may have potentiated its side effect.

We need to substitute or withdraw one or both drugs.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
