Question: I take 40mg sotalol in the morning, 1 mg per dose xanax 2-3 times a day (every 6-7 hours), 1 baby aspirin, 1 multi vitamin and 80 mg sotalol at night. Recently due to a bout of vertigo I was told to take meclizine otc. I bought a package of 25 mg Equate brand Meclizine. Please suggest the amount and the interval to take the meclizine based on info above of current meds.

Brief Answer:
No interactions with your other meds

Detailed Answer:
Hello again, good to hear from you. Meclizine does not have any significant interactions with your other medications, so you can use it as it is normally prescribed. Instructions are to use 25 to 100 mg daily in divided doses, so I would suggest trying one 25mg tablet, and if in 1 hour you are still having dizziness, take another 25 mg tablet. You could then do this again every 12 hours while you still have dizziness. If 25 mg takes the dizziness away, you can then repeat that dose 3 or 4 times a day as you need to if the dizziness come back.

The main side effects of meclizine are drowsiness, fatigue, and headache, so if you suddenly start to notice these, it is likely from the meclizine.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions about any of that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
