I Take Alprazolam (.25mg) For Anxiety , Without It I

Question: I take alprazolam (.25mg) for anxiety, without it I am agoraphobic. I'm beginning to fear the loss of my prescription, because of a new doctor and new regulations within my healthcare organization.

Well, Benzodiazepine like Alprazolam is having a very short time span of action. If you're taking the dose 0.25mg only once daily then that is also considered extremely low. So, it can be tapered off readily.

Another suitable option in this scenario would be Lorazepam 0.5mg per day. But all these are strictly prescription based medication, and you need to have a valid prescription in order to buy them...So I'd suggest explaining this situation to your doctor in details so that s/he can prescribe you the same.

If you can't, another option will be to visit the nearest ER and request them briefing your complaints so that they can provide you with the necessary prescription...
