Question: I tested positive for Covid 8 days ago but a few days ago I developed a pain my the side of my head and a throbbing pain behind my ear and down my neck and now I've noticed a swelling behind my ear

Thank you for asking ask a doctor service.
I have gone through your query with diligence. Your problem can be most likely Middle ear infection with mastoiditis. Mastoiditis is a complication of middle ear infection which gives a swelling behind the ear.
After viral infection you will be prone to secondary bacterial infection due to change in immune system. So this infection can be due to that. Antibiotic therapy will be required. For this case if you were my patient I would suggest broad spectrum antibiotics like Co- Amoxiclav for 7 to 10 days. If not improving then surgical drainage if fluid from middle ear will be required. NSAIDs like Motrin (Ibuprofen) will be helpful to get relief from pain and inflammation. This is available as over the counter.
