I Tested Positive For Strep Throat Yesterday And Was Prescribed
Question: I tested positive for strep throat yesterday and was prescribed azythromycin 250 mg. I was much worse today, so my prescription was changed to clindamycin hcl 300 mg 4x day. Three questions:
1. I took the azythromycin dose this morning, but is it safe for me to switch today and take both an afternoon and night-time dose of clindamycin (on the same day as the azythromycin)?
2. Even though I am switching over to clindamycin, is it okay to just stop taking the azithromycin before the 5-day pack is finished?
3. How long should I expect until fever goes away after starting antibiotics (started yesterday - switching to clindamycin today)- Thank you!
