I Think I've Had Food Poisoning For More Than 4
Question: I think I've had food poisoning for more than 4 days. I have diarrhea but not vomiting like the initial onset. Sometimes feel weak and have waves of stomach pain varying in intensity every 15 to 20 mins. I been drinking water elecrolit, chicken broth, green tea with boiled garlic and apple cider vinegar with the mother. Still diahrrea 4 days later. What do I do?

Diarrhea could be due to contaminated hands, food poisoning, or could be due to some gastrointestinal infections. These infections are self correcting and unless there is bloody stool associated, treatment with antibiotics is not required. Irrespective of treatment it takes 3-7 days for relief. ORS (oral rehydration solution) is the mainstay of treament and you have done the right thing by taking all sorts of fluids that you have mentioned. Take curd or yogurt since it contains plenty of beneficial bacteria and should help. You have to be patient. The diarrhoea will stop in a few days time. You just need to ensure proper hydration.
