bypass surgery is done to create a new track
Detailed Answer:
Hello
After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern and I would like to tell you that bypass surgery is done to create a new track for the blood to flow to your heart muscle. It’s not done to reduce blood pressure.
However after bypass surgery it becomes even more important to keep blood pressure under proper control so as to avoid damage to the grafts.
Now coming to medications, as mentioned by you that you are taking calchek, it basically contains amlodipine only and it doesn’t causes cough.
As your blood pressure is maintained so it’s advisable to continue with the medications which you are taking and keep taking low salt and low fried diet.
For cough I would like to suggest you to take steam inhalation 3 times a day for 5 days. If it doesn’t settle with this then consult a chest specialist for evaluation and advise.
Hope to have been helpful.
Kind Regards

Hello Again
Detailed Answer:
Dear your query was well understood and thoroughly answered. Having a clear chest X-ray doesn’t mean there can’t be any respiratory issues.
His cough could be due to upper respiratory tract infection (X-ray remain clear) or could be due to the irritation caused by mucosal healing of the tracheal tract which is common with intubation during surgery.
Nebulise him thrice a day and give him like warm water to drink hopefully he will be fine.
Regards
