Question: I used a nasal spray an hour before getting tested for the corona virus with a nasal swab like a fool. After getting home I got paranoid and checked the ingredients of the nasal spray(Azelastine) it contains benzalkonium chloride. Do you think this will affect my test results as in giving me false negative? Should I get retested? My boss won't let me come back to work until I get my results and I have a fever I don't wanna get a false negative and go to work sick

I have reviewed your information fully. There is no need to get retested. This tests looks for viral particles and not necessarily the live virus. As such, even if the spray killed any viruses, the test would still identify the particles. Let us not forget you could be sick with other causes and if symptoms persists, other causes should be investigated as opposed to you going to work sick. Corona is not the only existing disease at this time.
