Question: I've been rd with breast cancer,the radiologist read my ultrasound and found a lump 1/2 inch, and says needle biopsy is next,then a lumpectomy. My question is why a biopsy if they plan on removing the lump

They will do the FNA first because it’s important to know exactly the origin of the lump.The surgery plan will be based on the biopsy - if is malignancy they will remove more breast tissue,not only the lump
