I Wake Up With This Milky Substance Between My Legs

default
Posted on Sun, 21 Apr 2019
Question: I wake up with this milky substance between my legs and it has a strange odor. Before that I had a fishy odor and my finger test said it came from the back but no one knew the answer except probiotics, something about friendly flora. None of that helped. I just need someone to tell me something. If I put deodorant between my legs the day before (so far) I don't have the odor. I just need answers besides a douche. My doctor told me not to do that years ago.

Brief Answer:
Vaginal fungal infection, likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The milky substance between the legs with a strange odor is likely to be due to a vaginal fungal infection.

This can be treated with antifungal agents like miconazole. You can use a vaginal pessary like Gyno Daktarin once a day for 2 weeks. Please follow the instructions on the package carefully.

It is also important to keep your private parts scrupulously clean. Trimming your pubic hair, not using any soap to wash your vagina and keeping the area clean and dry will help.

A vaginal swab culture sensitivity will be helpful in determining the antibiotic which will be most suitable for your infection in case the infection is persistent.

I hope this answers your query.

This is not an infection. I read that it is from sweat glands between your legs. The substance is from the inside crease of the thigh. My doctor checks me for everything when I have my yearly exams by request. So if this was an infection we would have known that by now. I talk with other women that have this problem too. It appears that as we age we get this odor. Deodorant has stopped it before (the sticky stuff smell) but I was looking for a real answer.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to increased sweating post menopause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Excessive sweating in the area can cause the discharge and odour. Increasing the fluid intake and suing only cotton undergarments will help. Regular use of deodorant will also help. In case it is persistent then do consult your gynecologist to rule out an infection.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Thank you. That answer seems better because it is not nightly but when it does come it will last about 3 nights. I guess I didn't explain this better.

I feel that this is due to post menopausal hormonal changes. Decreasing intake of fatty and spicy foods will also help. Increase fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
