Brief Answer:
Kindly elaborate your symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Kindly elaborate your symptoms so that I am better able to help you. Exactly how good you feel, work, sleep, energy, any suicidal tendencies, stressors, etc. Also let me know the duration of each symptom. Any medicine intake?, any medical problems?

Otherwise many depression screening tests are available online. You can take one of them.

You may also want to rule out any organic cause with blood tests like CBC, ESR, blood chemistries, fasing blood sugar, thyroid profile, liver function test, kidney function test. head CT Scan.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Depression has following symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Yes you can consult a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis.

People usually go through stress after an event. It is called acute stress disorder if its symptoms last less than 1 month of stressor.
Second similar problem could be an anxiety in which no single focus or event can be held responsible.
Depression has the symptoms of depressed mood, changes in sleep, loss of interest/pleasure in work, thoughts of worthlessness or guilt, loss of energy, trouble concentrating, changes in appetite for food or changes in weight, changes in psychomotor activity (movement, coordination during movement, manipulate an action, etc), suicidal tendency. Most of these symptoms should be present for atleast 2 weeks to make a diagnosis of depression.

You can tell me your symptoms in detail and I can guide your further.

First step is to look for any abnormal tests like thyroid profile, complete blood count, etc. Also if you are taking any medicine that is causing weakness, etc. Any substance use?

Anti-depressants are prescribed by psychiatrists.
Meanwhile you can also do some yoga and meditation to get some energy and release the stress. Maybe join some short course on it.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
