I Wanted To Know Whether The DVT Could Have Happened Because I Was Holding My Legs Tightly With My Hands?
All the three times I had DVT, I had been masturbating for long hours. And long hours means like 4 hours and more. I control my ejaculation and thus extend it for long times. When I masturbate I hold some part of my leg - like a bit above my ankles or the calf or my feet pretty tightly with the other hand while I hold my breath during some time of my masturbation. I also used to have alcohol every day during the second and third incidents. During the first incident, I was not having it regularly, but I had had some vodka the night before.
I had done several blood works after the second time (the results of which I lost) to figure out hte reason (genetic, etc.) but all came out normal. The doctor then said they could not find a reason - it is just that my blood has a tenedency to clot and hence unprovoked DVT.
I am having anticoagulatnts now for life.
However, the reason I am writing this quesiton is becuase I wanted to know whether the DVT could have happened becuase I was holding my legs tightly with my hands? If that can be a reason, do I still need to take anticoagulants? Especially since I don't masturbate like that now.
I have heard that people traveling in flights for long distrances can get DVT. Are they also "unprovoked" and do they also have to take anticoagulants for life? I am trying to understnad whether my case is just because of my physical stress rather than a problem with my blood.
I am having these thoughts since I am on Rivaban (recently changed from Actirom to Rivaban) and I am afraid it can cause some side effects as i am getting older.
The first time DVT happend, the doctor just gave me aspirins. The second time it happend was in the other leg (proably I started clutching the other leg because I was consciou about the first leg's problem) I got admitted in a hospital for about 20 days. This was a bigger hospital, so I don't know if they just wanted toe xtract money. However during this time they did some tests and said my blood has a tendency to clot and that my clotting time was inconsistent. They said I may have to be in aspirin for the rest of my life. However, dring discharge the doctor was not around and so I did not start taking aspirin as no one confirmed it. And I did not want to be on medicines for my life. They asked me to keep wearing compression stockings, which I did not and then I got varicose veins as well in both my legs. I think it is some tiem after this that veins started appearing around my liver area. The third time DVT was again after a day on which i spend lot of time masturbating. Although i wasn't clutchng any my legs this time though. I was sitting on a chair and doing it - with my legs elevated on another chair and a laptop table across my legs. After this I have been taking Acitrom 4 mg everyday.
Masturbation unlikely to cause or promote DVT
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Before answering your specific concern, I would like to give you a background that the fluid state of blood is maintained by a delicate balance between coagulants and anti-coagulants present in blood.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is caused by disturbance in any of these elements.
I assume that your treating doctor has ordered assay of protein C, protein S, factor V, lupus anticoagulant, APLA and homocyetine.
It would be helpful if you could post the results of these parameters.
DVT is prevented by anti-coagulants.
The response and dosage of anti-coagulants is monitored by prothrombin time (PT) and INR.
INR should be maintained between 1.5-2.5.
Varicose veins can lead to DVT so varicose veins should be managed promptly. Compression stockings are used initially, however, the definitive treatment is surgical.
Masturbation is unlikely to precipitate or promote DVT.
The class and doe of anti-coagulant will be decided by your treating doctor after checking your INR values.
I hope, I have answered your concerns.
If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
Thanks and take care

I have been taking Acitrom 4 mg and doing INR tests regularly. Only last month I changed it to Rivaban on the advise of the doctor. Attached is the latest ultrasound scan I did last month.
I did not mention these and about varicose veins because my question was not about these. Thank you for clarifying masturbation does not cause DVT. But my question was more about how I was doing it - especially this part in my question:
"" When I masturbate I hold some part of my leg - like a bit above my ankles or the calf or my feet pretty tightly with the other hand while I hold my breath during some time of my masturbation. I also used to have alcohol every day during the second and third incidents. During the first incident, I was not having it regularly, but I had had some vodka the night before.""
To simplify:
1. Can holding a part of my leg tightly like mentioned in the paragraph above cause DVT?
2. If yes, is it called "unprovoked DVT" ?
3. If this is not categorized as unprovoked but is because of my action, do I need to continue medication or just avoiding such physical strains enough to prevent DVT from happening again?
Some additional questions I would like to ask:
3. Are DVT occurring due to long flights or because of immobility also unprovoked?
4. Can you please let me know whether according to the scan , I had DVT in one leg or both legs?
5. Do clots that form in my legs due to DVT fully go away or do they never go away?
6. Can you please tell me whether there is a clot in deep veins now, according to the scan?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
I will answer your queries point wise:
1. Holding your leg with great pressure is not a direct cause of DVT, however, if possible, it may be avoided.
2. Answered in point 1.
3a. Medication needs to be continued for DVT and should not be discontinued without the treating doctor's advice.
3b. DVT can occur during long flights. This underlying cause is prolonged immobility.
4. Scanned report is of the left leg. The left leg has a DVT.
5. the clots formed in deep veins can be prevented by causing blockade in thin vessels of lungs and heart with medication. However, if there is a tendency to form clots, the tendency is going to stay.
6. Thrombus is present in the left leg on the basis of the report posted by you.
Thanks and take care

1. You said "3b. DVT can occur during long flights. This underlying cause is prolonged immobility."
My question around holding tightly around my ankles was because of this: If long flights where healthy people are just immobile for long time can cause DVT, wouldn't holding my leg tightly also cause DVT? In the former one is just sitting without moving much but in the second, I am holding one of my legs tightly as well while sitting. I know you answered this already that holding my leg will not cause DVT but I am trying to understand then how long flights can cause it. Basically, with this question I am trying to be sure whether it was because of my sitting like that or is it really because my blood has a tendency to clot.
2. I have attached an old scan report of both legs. Can you please let me know if both legs have DVT?
3. "You said "5. the clots formed in deep veins can be prevented by causing blockade in thin vessels of lungs and heart with medication. However, if there is a tendency to form clots, the tendency is going to stay."
'
I am sorry, I did not understand the first sentence. especially where it says "prevented by causing blockade..."
Also, my question
4. Once I have a DVT in a leg, does the clot stay there forever or will it dissolve over time? How much time if it will dissolve?
5. Is the thrombus you mentioned in your answer number 6 a clot that I had long before? Will it go away at all or stay there?
Again, sorry for my long list of questions. I did not ask these questions when I needed because i used to take everything lightly. And honestly, nobody cared to explain either. Thank you for your patience with my questions. I promise I will not ask the same questions again.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
DVT after prolonged immobilization are seen in people with tendency to form clots. This tendency is rare in healthy individuals.
The old scan shows varicose veins and incompetent valves. It does not show any clot.
The clots formed dissolve after taking anti-coagulants.
Anti-coagulants will prevent formation of new clots also.
Thanks and take care
