Hey Dr Olgeta, I have a question as I don't want to head to ER. FYI my Covid19 test came back negative which is great.. Here is my issue. I went to the ER on March 8th because of a little chest discomfort and the ECG was normal but the sensitive Triponin test was borderline high and all the other tests were normal. They released me quickly as they saw that 2.5 years ago I did a CT scan of the arteries and all was good. Can you possibly explain why the sensitive Triponin test was a borderline high? I did run in the morning of that day and I ran last night and have the same symptoms. Any idea though why the Triponin test was a little high? Thanks and hope your safe Best regards Aryeh

Brief Answer:
Heart damage possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear Aryeh and welcome again.
I believe that borderline increased troponin test may be a sign of heart attack or heart muscle damage. Possibly this damage is so small that it can't be seen in ECG since it came out normal.
Taking count that you are having symptoms again while running you may need further medical attention.
I think you may need an ultrasound of heart and an angiography.
You may need to visit a cardiologist.
Using aspirin may be helpful to prevent blood clotting.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

Hey Dr Olgeta I'm just repeating and maybe explain myself better. I haven't ran since March 8th and back then the sensitive Triponin test was 27 which is borderline high. I don't feel pain just stiff my whole body like today when I ran last night. Two plus years ago I did a CT of the arteries and everything was normal except for a small hiatal hernia. I did an ultrasound sound a couple of months ago " family history " of the main arteries in my neck and leg area to check blockage etc.. and VERY little plaque so I am on Stator10 to prevent. I don't feel chest pain just stiff as I have not ran in a while. FYI the Triponin test was higher after my Gallbladder surgery. I hope I explained myself better. Thanks again Best regards

FYI - I have Gerd and diagnosed for years so that also might be the cause. The only thing that worried me is why the borderline Triponin elevated and the Doctor said nothing to worry about on March 8th

Brief Answer:
Acute cholecystitis can increase troponin I
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
The elevated specific troponin test shows a heart issue , damage to heart muscle but it can be mild elevated in case of cholecystitis. GERD can't cause elevated troponin.
Also your ECG was normal so you don't have to worry about it.
I didn't know you were in stator 10 and you can take aspirin 75 mg also .
You don't have to worry about heart damage then.

Hello Dr Olgeta Thanks for your answer. I just want to be clear again that my Gallbladder was removed on December 4th. Isn't that what you meant about an " acute Cholecystitis? I'm just trying to clarity here. It's just confusing that the Triponin is borderline high. Thanks

Brief Answer:
You don't have to worry about it.
Detailed Answer:
If the gallbladder was removed on December and troponin was borderline in March then this two are not related.
Troponin can be borderline even though you may be without symptoms and ECG is normal. They don't show any disease
In this case you don't have to worry about it.
Taking aspirin may be a preventing measure.
You don't have to worry about it.
