Question: I was advised to take half tablet of Benadone 40 mg after lunch during my urinary bladder tuberculosis treatment in addition to my tuberculosis medicines. I took my tuberculosis medicines quite regularly but frequently missed many doses of Benadone 40 and did not take it at all during last two months of treatment. I completed nine months course of treatment on 24/4/21. Can I again start taking benadone for two months to make up for the missed doses of benadone?

Hi Y,
Thanks for the query..I understand your concern.
Benadone40 is a vitamin B6 supliment&is helpful in TB.treatment by increasing appetite to improve food intake. It is also important for making Red blood cells &avoid Anemia possible in tuberculosis .
TB being a debilitating disease, Keeping good health along with specific treatment of tuberculosis is the basic strategy for managing TB.
You can take the pills for remaining days to improve your health.
As you have completed 9 months course of the drugs..it's time to visit your treating doctor&get an assessment of improvement.&get instructions for further management.
I hope that helps Any follow-up query is welcome.
Thanks

I have already consulted my treating doctor on 22/4/21 and she told me to stop taking the medication after 24/4/21 as nine months will be completed on that date. But I forgot to ask the question about benadone. You have advised me that I can take the benadone pills for the remaining days. Will it be all right If I take the benadone pills prescribed by my doctor for another two months to make up for the missed doses?

Hi Y,
Thanks for the follow up query.
As Benadone controls many vital functions of body&Antituberculous drugs(Isoniazide)causes it's defeciency...Benadone should accompany tuberculosis treatment.
You had dropped Benadone pills during treatment& it must have given you weakness.
I would suggest your blood check up for Anemia
In case it's low,you have lost weight, muscles are weaker, you should continue with the same dose.If the Anemia is there.consult your doctor..she may reduce the dose or increase the days of Benadone intake according to your health status.(over dose may have side effects)
It's essntial to fullfill B6 deficit according to need ...for your healthy life.
I hope you understand the issue.Any follow up query is welcome.
Thank
