I Was At Work The Other Day And I Had
Question: I was at work the other day and I had a severe pain that started in my left shoulder upper arm then radiated to my chest and then my neck. The pain stayed in my chest but my right shoulder and upper arm hurt (not as bad) as well. The pain in my chest was very painful. The pain was somewhat tingling when it first began.
I had severe upper pain across my back and chest about 5 month ago. Had an EKG and it was normal. Was not and have not been ill previous to the occurrences. It seems that I am tired and my energy level is lower.
Brief Answer:
Probably muscular origin of the pain, cardiac issues should be excluded.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are many medical conditions that can be related to chest pain.
I see through the query that you have already done an EKG five months ago.
I recommend you to repeat the EKG to exclude cardiac issues currently.
I also recommend doing a blood test to check for the presence of cardiac enzymes such as Troponin.
Other possible causes can be muscular origin.
Gastroesofagel reflux can also be related to chest pain.
Meanwhile, I suggest to take anti-inflammatory medication such as Acetaminophen three tablets a day for the pain.
If the pain is caused by muscular origin you will feel better with this medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
